Exact age comes up more often than you’d think: filling in official forms that ask for age in completed years, checking eligibility against a cut-off date for school enrolment, a visa, a pension, or a sports age group, or just settling how many days old a new baby is. Doing it by hand is fiddly because months have different lengths and leap years shift everything; the calculator does the calendar-aware counting for you and shows its working as a full breakdown.
How is my exact age calculated?
It counts the whole years, then months, then leftover days between your birth date and the target date, respecting month lengths and leap years — the same way you'd say your age out loud.
Why do different age calculators sometimes disagree by a day?
The years-months-days breakdown has genuine edge cases — like a birth date on the 31st when the target month has 30 days — and calculators resolve them with slightly different conventions. Whole-year age (what forms and the law care about) always agrees; only the months-and-days tail can differ.
What happens on a February 29 birthday?
In non-leap years the next-birthday countdown lands on March 1, then snaps back to February 29 whenever the next leap year comes around. Legally, most places treat a leapling's birthday as March 1 (or February 28 in some jurisdictions) in common years.
Can I find someone else's age, or an age on a future date?
Yes. Enter any birth date and set the second date to a past or future day to get the age on that date — useful for eligibility cut-offs, anniversaries, or milestone planning.
How do I quickly estimate how many days I've lived?
Multiply your age in years by 365.25 (the .25 accounts for leap years). At 30 that's roughly 10,957 days. The calculator shows the exact figure, counting the actual leap days in your lifetime.
Is age counted the same way everywhere?
Not historically. The international convention — you're 0 at birth and gain a year each birthday — is what this tool uses. East Asian reckoning traditionally counted a newborn as 1 and added a year at New Year; South Korea officially switched to international age in 2023.
Does the calculator handle time zones?
It works in whole calendar dates using your device's local time, which is how ages are used in practice. If you were born in another time zone, your legal date of birth is the one on your birth certificate — enter that.
Is my date of birth sent anywhere?
No — the calculation runs entirely in your browser. Nothing you enter leaves your device or is stored anywhere.
