How to use / FAQ

Enter a price and a discount to see the final price and how much you save. Switch to stacked discounts to apply several percentages in sequence — for example a store-wide sale plus a coupon — and see the price after each step along with the single equivalent discount.

How do I calculate a percentage discount?

Multiply the price by the discount percentage to get the amount off, then subtract it from the price. For example, 25% off $120 is $30 off, leaving $90. The calculator does this instantly and also shows the amount saved. For general percent-of and percent-change math, see the percentage calculator.

Why don't stacked discounts add up?

Each discount applies to the price left by the previous one, not to the original price. So 20% off then 10% off is not 30% off — it's 100 → 80 → 72, an effective 28% discount. The calculator shows the price after each step and the true combined percentage.

Does the order of stacked discounts matter?

Not for the final price — multiplying by the same set of factors gives the same result in any order. The step-by-step prices will differ, but the final total and the effective discount are identical.

Does this include sales tax?

No. It calculates the discounted price before tax. Any sales tax would be applied to the final discounted price afterward, at whatever rate applies where you are.
